Shiva Mahima Stotra
By the stotra emanating from the lotus of the face of Sri Pushpadant, the destroyer of sins, the dearest of destroyers.
By reciting it in the throat and concentrating, the Lord of the ghosts is well pleased

Shiva Mahima Stotra (Shiva Mahimna) is very popular among the devotees of Lord Shiva and is considered as one of the best Stotras among all the Stotras of Lord Shiva. There is a story behind this source which is as follows. Once a king named Chitraratha had made a nice garden with beautiful flowers. Those flowers were used daily by Chitrarath to worship Lord Shiva.

One day a Gandharva named Pushpadanta was attracted by beautiful flowers and started stealing them, because of this Chitraratha could not offer flowers to Lord Shiva. He tried to catch the thief, but failed as the Gandharvas had the power to remain invisible. So Chitraratha spread Shiva Nirmalya (flowers left after worship, usually on the last day) in his garden. Shiva Nirmalya consists of bilva leaves, flowers etc. which are used in the worship of Lord Shiva. The thief Pushpadanta, not knowing this, went to Shiva Nirmalya, and as it is sacred, causing him to suffer the wrath of Lord Shiva and lose his divine power of invisibility. Then he prayed to Lord Shiva for forgiveness. In this prayer he sang the greatness of the Lord.

This prayer later became famous as Shiva Mahima Stotra. Many scholars have expressed their adoration for Lord Shiva with poetry and devotional verses. But, of all the stotras (hymns of praise), the one composed and composed by Gandharva Pushpadanta is considered to be one of the most popular.

Whoever recites Shiva Mahima Stotra one, two or three times (in a day), he rejoices in the realm of Shiva, all his sins are destroyed.
